Weekend with the Vikings, golfing in Duluth

Hello, back up north again from an extended working (and fun) weekend.

I made my way down to the Dome Sunday to catch the Vikings-Ravens game and was able to get a field photo credential to shoot the game for The Pioneer/Forum Communications.

While it wasn’t my greatest day shooting, I’m pretty happy with the photos I came away with. My photo of Adrian Peterson ran six-columns wide in Monday’s Duluth (Minn.) News-Tribune, my hometown paper, which was a pleasant surprise and something my family and friends were happy to see.

You can check out some of my best photos from the game on The Pioneer’s Web site here.

It was a fun, wild game to be at. I think Sidney Rice is finally showing his ability to be the receiver he was expected to be. Just from watching at field level, he’s got the footwork and route running skills to get open. And Brett Favre obviously likes him (they sat on the bench together as the Ravens went out to kick the field at the end of the game), so that could be a key connection to watch for as the season rolls on.

On my day off Monday, I visited family and snuck in a round of golf at Lester Park Golf Course in Duluth. The course was in outstanding great shape for this time of year. While it was a cool and overcast day, it was good enough to sneak in the final round of the year. Being that I haven’t played in a month, my score reflected all the rust.

****Disclaimer: I covered the game on my own time as Sunday’s technically my day off. The Pioneer doesn’t pay me to cover Vikings games. But hey, it was worth my time. If you’re a sports fan, I’m sure you’d take advantage of the opportunity if you could!***

Being that I haven’t played in a month, my score reflected all the rust!
