Phil Brewer, who plays for Burlington of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, has committed to the Bemidji State men’s hockey program for the 2011-12 season.
Here’s an edited press released from the OJHL:
The native of Cambridge, Ontario is the Cougars captain and led the entire OJHL in regular season scoring with 109 points in 48 games played. Brewer led all OJHL players with 70 assists, 27 power play assists and tied for the lead with eight game-winning goals. Burlington was the West Division Champions and Brewer was also named a North-West Conference 1st Team All-Star. He is listed at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds.
“I am heading to Bemidji State University in the fall,” Brewer said. “I made the decision to go to this school because I feel that both the academic and athletic program will be the best fit. With their new facilities it will help develop and mature me as a player. Bemidji State has a lot of hockey history and passion and I’m very fortunate that I will be a part of it. The coaching staff has a wealth of experience for the game and a winning desire. The school is located in northern Minnesota and has a wonderful small town appeal. I’m very excited to attend.”
