Former Bemidji State hockey player Andrew Murray has two power-play goals in each of the first two preseason games for the San Jose Sharks.
He scored in the third periods of Wednesday’s 6-1 victory and Friday’s 5-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks.
Murray played a total of 15:49 in Wednesday’s game, 3:24 on the power play and had two shots on goal.
He played a total of 15:07 in Friday’s game, 2:45 on the power play and had four shouts on goal. Here is a video of the goals from Friday’s game. You can see Murray putting back his own rebound at the end of the tape.
The Sharks have a loaded roster this season. Murray signed in the offseason is competing for a fourth-line role.
Murray played at BSU from 2001-05 and ranks third on BSU’s Division I-era scoring list (115 points). He has 23 goals and 13 assists in 181 career NHL games.
Here’s a feature story on Murray from the Sharks back in July.
