Friday night lines: Bemidji State vs. Minnesota State University, Mankato

Lineup charts and some notes for tonight’s game against MSU, Mankato:

There are no changes for Bemidji State from Saturday night’s game at Denver. Dan Bakala is in goal and Kyle Brodie will be playing in his fourth straight game on the third defensive pairing.

Brodie had a goal and assist in the Friday night loss at Denver and looked good on the offensive end during the series. I asked BSU head coach Tom Serratore this week if he plans to give Brodie (seven games played this season) more ice time, and here was his answer:

“Kyle played pretty good. He’s very good on the offensive side of the puck and had a goal and assist in Denver. He’s gaining more confidence in the coaching staff and it was a nice breakout weekend in Denver.”

BSU sophomore Radoslav Illo brings a five-game point streak into the series. Freshman Danny Mattson has a four-game point streak.

Local fans will want to keep an eye on Mankato’s Zach Lehrke. The sophomore from Park Rapids is having a breakout season with nine goals and eight assists for 17 points.

Leading scorer Jean-Paul LaFontaine is the nephew of former NHL star Pat LaFontaine.

If you want some more reading while you wait, I talked with former BSU captain Matt Read about his All-Star experience this afternoon and that story is in the blog post below.
